American Jet will launch two intra-provincial routes in Neuquén, Argentina, starting September 2026: Neuquén–Chos Malal (twice weekly) and Neuquén–Chapelco (three times weekly). The Chos Malal route hasn't been operated in over 13 years. Tickets go on sale August 14.

Air connectivity in the Argentine province of Neuquén is taking a major step forward with the return of two intra-provincial routes operated by regional airline American Jet. According to specialized aviation media outlet Aviacionline, starting in September 2026, the airline will offer two weekly frequencies between Neuquén and Chos Malal, and three weekly frequencies between Neuquén and Chapelco.

One of the most notable facts is that the route to Chos Malal, located in the northern part of the province, has not been served for at least 13 years, making this a significant recovery for the region.

Route: Neuquén – Chos Malal

Frequency: 2 times per week

Destination: Chos Malal, northern Neuquén

Start: September 2026

Route: Neuquén – Chapelco

Frequency: 3 times per week

Destination: Chapelco, a tourist area near San Martín de los Andes

Start: September 2026

Tickets will be available starting August 14, 2026, as confirmed by the airline. This initiative aims to improve internal connectivity within the province, making it easier to access both tourist and productive areas.

American Jet is an Argentine regional airline that operates domestic flights, mainly in the south of the country. With these new routes, it expands its presence in Patagonia, a vast region known for its stunning landscapes, including the Andes mountains, lakes, and forests.

Neuquén is one of Argentina's most important provinces for energy production and tourism. The city of Neuquén serves as a hub for the region, while Chos Malal is a historic town in the north, and Chapelco is a popular ski resort area near the picturesque town of San Martín de los Andes.

The news was shared via Aviacionline's X (formerly Twitter) account, highlighting the return of a route that had been inactive for more than a decade.
