Massacre in Mexico: Camilo Séptimo musician, his pregnant wife, daughter and employee killed; Argentine partner arrested

The musician, composer and producer Jonathan 'Honas' Meléndez Ochoa, 38, founding member of the indie pop band Camilo Séptimo, was murdered along with his pregnant wife, their 3-year-old daughter, a domestic employee and the family dog, in their apartment in the Grand Viure tower, located in the exclusive Zona Esmeralda, in Atizapán de Zaragoza, State of Mexico.

The officers, upon hearing him, exclaimed “We have a child!”. The minor showed no signs of violence and was immediately taken into protective custody.

The detained: an Argentine businessman with business ties

The investigation advanced quickly. On Wednesday, September 3, 2026, the FGJEM confirmed the arrest of two suspects: Diego Sebastián Rosen, an Argentine national, 51, and Gerardo N. The authorities identified Rosen as the alleged material and intellectual author of the crime, taking advantage of the relationship of trust he maintained with the victim as a business partner.

Rosen, owner of the travel company NOMAD Adventures, had a history of fraud complaints, accused of keeping 400,000 Mexican pesos from fraud victims. According to the first official hypothesis, the main motive would have been robbery, facilitated by the trust the victim had in him to access the home.

Security camera images from the building captured Rosen in the residence elevator minutes before the crime. In the video, lasting between 24 and 30 seconds, he is seen wearing a black leather jacket, green cap, sunglasses and a bag or backpack. At the end of the clip, he stares directly at the camera, a gesture that authorities consider key evidence.

The case caused deep sorrow in the independent music scene. Camilo Séptimo, a group originally from Mexico City, is known for hits like “No me digas” and “Miénteme”, and has amassed millions of streams on digital platforms. The Secretary of Security, Omar García Harfuch, reported that one of those arrested was a partner of one of the victims and confirmed the arrest, highlighting the collaboration between the state Attorney General's Office, the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, and the Mexico City Police.
