Argentine Peso Strengthens: Official and Blue Dollar Drop on July 30, 2026

30/07/2026 18:31 - Economia

Calm and Declines in the Dollar Market

On July 30, 2026, Argentina's currency market closed the fourth trading day of the week with a sense of calm and stability. According to reports from Ámbito and El Cronista, the official dollar fell for the second consecutive day, mirroring a global weakening of the US currency (the DXY index dropped over 0.8% to 99.97 points).

This correction offers a breather after recent nominal highs, in a context where the government successfully placed $12.21 trillion ARS and USD 309 million in a bond reopening (Bonar 2029) on Wednesday.

Official and Retail Rates

  • Official Dollar (BNA) Sell $1,510 ARS
  • Wholesale Dollar Sell $1,507 ARS
  • Dollar Tarjeta (credit card rate) $1,963 ARS

The official dollar fell $5 from the previous close, now sitting 23.9% below the upper band of the exchange rate corridor set by the BCRA at $1,843.63 ARS.

Parallel and Financial Markets

  • Blue Dollar (informal market) Sell $1,565 ARS
  • Dollar MEP (stock market rate) $1,508.16 ARS
  • Dollar CCL (Contado con Liquidación) $1,552.41 ARS

The blue dollar also fell $5, narrowing the gap with the official rate to about 3.64%. The MEP (Mercado Electrónico de Pagos) and CCL (Contado con Liquidación) are rates obtained by buying and selling bonds, allowing investors to dollarize portfolios without leaving the formal financial system.

BCRA Reserves and Future Outlook

The Central Bank of Argentina (BCRA) continues its strong pace of reserve accumulation. On July 30, the entity intervened in the Single and Free Exchange Market (MULC) purchasing USD 117 million. Gross international reserves now stand at USD 49,001 million, building a cushion that provides stability to the economic system.

Markets are optimistically awaiting the presidential announcement scheduled for 8:00 PM local time, where the reform of the BCRA's Organic Charter will be presented. The reform aims to strengthen the institution's mandate to preserve the value of the currency.
