'The Batman 2' delayed for the third time: Will it arrive in 2028?

A Curse in Gotham: The Delay of "The Batman: Part II"

For the third time in its production history, the sequel to "The Batman" might change its release date, confirming the worst fears of DC Comics fans. What began as one of the label's most promising projects now seems to have become the most jinxed movie in superhero history, though fans remain hopeful for a spectacular return to Gotham.

Why the Massive Delay?

The first installment, directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson, was released to great success in March 2022, grossing 772 million dollars worldwide. However, the sequel has not managed to take off with the same fluidity.

Sources indicate that a long time passed before Reeves delivered the final script, which was not completed until 2025. Filming is slated for the summer of 2026, a timeline that made it nearly impossible for the movie to be ready for its original release date of October 1, 2027.

Finally, Warner Bros. is expected to announce that "The Batman: Part II" will hit theaters on February 18, 2028. Nearly six years will have passed since the first film's release, an unusually long gap for a live-action franchise, but this extra time might ensure a masterpiece.

Robert Pattinson's Concerns

Robert Pattinson, who plays the Dark Knight in this continuity (which is independent of the universe James Gunn is building with Superman and Supergirl), has previously shared his concerns about his age. The actor fears he might be "too old" by the time he has to put on the batsuit again, an understandable worry given the current schedule. Still, his dedication to the role shines through.

It is rumored that the sequel's cast could include two major stars from Marvel: Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan, although details about their characters remain a closely guarded secret, adding immense excitement to the project.

  • Expected Release: February 18, 2028
  • Original Release: March 2022
  • Part I Box Office: 772 million dollars

  • Lead Actor: Robert Pattinson
