Spider-Man: Brand New Day (known in Latin America as Spider-Man: Un nuevo día) arrives in theaters on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. This fourth installment starring Tom Holland marks a major shift for the franchise, leaving behind the multiverse chaos of No Way Home to focus on a more intimate and mature story. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (who helmed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), the film runs 145 minutes and promises to redefine the character within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
The plot takes place four years after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). Following Doctor Strange’s spell, the entire world has forgotten Peter Parker’s secret identity. The young hero now lives in complete isolation, protecting New York City while grappling with the emotional fallout of his friends MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon) no longer remembering him. This mental and emotional crisis even affects his DNA and the creation of his organic webs, pushing Peter toward self-destruction. To find a way out, he must cross paths with other characters who are equally broken.
The film has been warmly received by critics, earning a 91% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes (a popular review aggregator) and a 70 out of 100 on Metacritic. Reviewers from outlets like The Wrap, The Hollywood Reporter, and Variety have praised the decision to step away from the multiverse and focus on Peter’s personal struggles, calling Holland’s performance the best of his career in the role. Some critics, such as Peter Bradshaw of The Guardian, noted a lack of novelty compared to the animated Spider-Verse films, but the overall consensus remains highly positive.
Commercial success seems all but guaranteed. Analysts project the film could earn 465 million US dollars in its opening weekend worldwide. To surpass the 1.921 billion dollars grossed by No Way Home in 2021, Marvel is counting on a simultaneous release in China, which could make a crucial difference. Additionally, the movie includes a post-credits scene that sets up Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled for release on December 18, 2026.
