At 99, Argentine TV icon Mirtha Legrand won't tape her Saturday show due to a flu-like illness. Her granddaughter, Juana Viale, will host both weekend programs. The news was confirmed by her daughter, Marcela Tinayre, and grandson, Nacho Viale.

Argentine television legend Mirtha Legrand will not record her program this Saturday, September 5, 2026, following medical advice due to a flu-like condition. The announcement came from family sources and was confirmed by her daughter, Marcela Tinayre, and her grandson, Nacho Viale, who produces the show.

Tinayre told the press that Mirtha is at home, resting, after doctors recommended she skip the recordings. “She has a bad cold, with congestion and a cough, but she's fine, taking care of herself,” she said.

Juana Viale Takes the Helm for Both Shows

In response, Juana Viale, Mirtha's granddaughter, will host both La noche de Mirtha (Saturday) and Almorzando con Juana (Sunday). This isn't the first time Juana has filled in: in April 2026, Mirtha was absent for three weeks due to bronchitis, and Juana stepped in successfully. Upon her return, Mirtha publicly thanked her granddaughter for the excellent job.

Confirmed Guests for the Weekend

Saturday's La noche de Mirtha will feature Ana Rosenfeld, lawyer for Wanda Nara, and Elba Marcovecchio, lawyer for Mauro Icardi, who are publicly at odds over the couple's high-profile divorce. Also joining are Karina Iavícoli, panelist on LAM and Infama, and Luciana Rubinska, ESPN sports journalist, known for being the first woman to win a Martín Fierro de Cable in sports journalism, in 2018.

Sunday's Almorzando con Juana will welcome actor Martín Seefeld, ballet dancer Iñaki Urlezaga, actresses Juli Castro and Patricia Etchegoyen, and Sofía Cairó, a player from Las Leonas, who scored the decisive penalty in the hockey World Cup final against the Netherlands, which Argentina won 3-1.

Mirtha's Health Background

Mirtha, who turns 100 next year, has faced some health challenges recently. In 2023, she had a pacemaker implanted. In April 2026, she spent three weeks resting due to a flu that turned into bronchitis, requiring antibiotics. At that time, her doctor, Dr. Semeniuk, recommended absolute rest.

Despite her age, Mirtha remains a beloved figure in Argentine television, and her family and production team have shown their support during this latest health setback.
