A Hopeful Ending After Days of Uncertainty
The anguish that overwhelmed a family in Rosario, Argentina's third-largest city, began to dissipate in the early hours of Saturday, August 9, 2026. After nearly three days of a desperate search, Oscar Daniel Vega, a 68-year-old engineer last seen on Thursday, August 6, was found alive inside his vehicle.

According to local media such as La Capital and Radiofónica, officers from the Motorized Brigade arrived at Pasaje Espora 1300, in the heart of Rosario, around 1:45 AM. There, they found Vega's white Chevrolet Prisma, with him sitting in the passenger seat.
When questioned by the police, the man could not give coherent answers, so an ambulance from SIES (Integrated Health Emergency System) was immediately requested. Due to his state of unconsciousness, there is a suspicion—yet to be confirmed by doctors—that he may have suffered a stroke. For this reason, he was transferred to a private sanatorium, where he remains hospitalized while awaiting his health evolution.
Identity Confirmed and Family Relief
Vega's identity was confirmed thanks to the presence of one of his daughters, 41 years old, who told authorities it was her father, whom they had been looking for non-stop since Thursday. The family, residing in the La Florida neighborhood, had visited hospitals, police stations, and even the judicial morgue without any answers.

To understand the magnitude of the relief, we must go back to Thursday, August 6. That day, around 2:00 PM, Vega made a purchase at an appliance store located at Presidente Roca 1400. Later, he went to a downtown apartment where a plumber installed a water heater. After finishing the task, he got into his car, turned west on 3 de Febrero street, and from that moment, all trace of him was lost.
Family concern increased when bank movements and a connection from his cell phone were detected in the Rouillón and Seguí area around 7:30 PM that same Thursday, leading to suspicions of a possible theft of his cards and documents. However, finding the car parked so close to the starting point suggests a scenario more related to a health issue than a criminal act, something that the police investigation and security cameras in the area will ultimately clarify.
