A surreal episode shook the Tower district in Fresno. An off-duty ICE agent violently broke into a private property, attacking a 72-year-old man and his daughter. The outcome was drastic: the victim defended himself with gunfire, leaving the officer wounded and now behind bars.

What began as a quiet night in Fresno, California, ended in a scene of violence and gunfire. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent, David Gonzalez, originally from Texas, starred in an aggressive attack against a local resident and his family.

According to reports, Gonzalez was off duty when, in a state described as "intoxicated and agitated", he began to attack a 72-year-old man and his daughter inside their own property. Neighborhood witnesses claimed that the agent even violently pushed the young woman against a vehicle.

The breaking point: Faced with the aggression, the 72-year-old man responded by shooting the officer, hitting him in the torso to stop the attack.

Justice acted quickly. While the victim and his daughter were exonerated from any charges because they acted in self-defense and were recovering from their injuries, the agent was processed.

Defendant Legal Charges Current Status
David Gonzalez Assault and battery with aggravating circumstances Arrested / Wounded

The event generated a strong political reaction. Fresno Councilmember Mike Karbassi was blunt in describing the situation as a "recipe for disaster", pointing out that the presence of immigration agents in neighborhoods where a climate of fear and intimidation already exists only exacerbates social tension.
