In the heart of Argentina's Mesopotamia region, the province of Entre Ríos is taking decisive steps to ensure the financial health of its pension system. The provincial Senate is preparing to debate a major reform that aims to balance the accounts of the local pension fund, known as the Caja de Jubilaciones, while protecting workers' rights.
After incorporating eight technical modifications, the ruling party achieved a favorable report. The bill would declare a pension emergency for two years (extendable for two more) and introduce the following measures:
Led by Senator Juan Pablo Cosso, the Justicialist Party (PJ) has presented an alternative proposal. This plan rejects the emergency declaration, arguing it is incompatible with a structural reform, and proposes changes only for future state employees.
