29/06/2026 13:45 - Sociales

A Celebration of Corrientes' Literature

The 16th Provincial Book Fair of Corrientes opens its doors from July 7th to 18th, 2026 at the brand-new Technological Building of La Unidad, located on Avenida 3 de Abril 57. Under the motto "Stories to Encourage", this event aims to link the literary universe with the passion ignited by the FIFA World Cup, inviting the people of Corrientes to discover and value the works of local authors.

Organized by the Government of Corrientes through the Institute of Culture, the fair received over 110 proposals in its open call, demonstrating the immense interest this literary event generates in the province.

Tributes and Local Authors

This edition will pay special recognition to three figures who have shaped Corrientes' literature:

  • Martha Quiles
  • "Cacho" González Vedoya
  • Gerardo Pisarello

Prominent local authors like José Gabriel Ceballos, Rodrigo Galarza, and Enrique Eduardo "Kito" Galiana will also participate, presenting their latest works.

Renowned National and International Guests

The fair will feature distinguished figures:

  • Ángeles Mastretta (Mexico): A videoconference on "Mal de amores," a novel whose adaptation is coming to Netflix.
  • Silvia Hopenhayn: A conference on the work of Jorge Luis Borges, 40 years after his death.
  • Federico Andahazi: Will present "El prisionero del yerbatal," inspired by the life of naturalist Amado Bonpland.
  • Selva Almada (Entre Ríos): Will present "Una casa sola" and engage in a dialogue with José Gabriel Ceballos.

A Program for Everyone

Over twelve days, the public can enjoy:

  • Book presentations
  • Conferences and debate panels
  • Literary workshops
  • Artistic performances
  • Cinema and theater shows
  • Children's activities
  • Live music
  • Meeting spaces for readers
  • Activities for all ages

New Venue: Technological Building of La Unidad

The main novelty of this edition is its location in the ground floor and first floor of the future Technological Building of La Unidad, a modern infrastructure representing a strategic bet on innovation, knowledge, and technological development.

Additionally, one of the lateral streets of the site will host an outdoor stage alongside a promenade of entrepreneurs, artisans, and food vendors.

Words from Lourdes Sánchez, President of the Institute of Culture: "We want to take advantage of the atmosphere generated by the World Cup so that, besides supporting the National Team, the people of Corrientes also encourage our own stories and those who create them."
