Sergeant Gonzalo Ordóñez, a volunteer firefighter from the Villa La Florida station in Quilmes, Buenos Aires Province, has departed to Venezuela as part of the elite USAR ARG-12 Brigade. For ten days, he will assist in search and rescue operations following devastating earthquakes that left over 1,700 dead and thousands missing.
Micaela López Fariña, a volunteer firefighter from the small town of El Peligro near La Plata, Argentina, and member of the elite PUMA USAR ARG 13 rescue team, departed from Buenos Aires' Ezeiza International Airport bound for Venezuela. Her emotional farewell, met with applause from family and colleagues, marked the beginning of a humanitarian mission to assist in the aftermath of devastating earthquakes that struck the Caribbean nation.
