Poland Strips Zelenskyy of Top Honor Over WWII Controversy
Polish President Karol Nawrocki announced on June 19, 2026 the withdrawal of Poland's highest decoration from Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The decision follows Zelenskyy's naming of a military unit after the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), an organization Poland accuses of massacring 100,000 Polish civilians during World War II.
