Tourists Trapped in Rio Favela Shootout During Police Raid
A group of about 60 tourists from Argentina, Chile, and Europe found themselves caught in a terrifying crossfire in Rio de Janeiro's Santa Marta favela during a police operation against the Comando Vermelho criminal organization. The shootout, which began at dawn, left at least four dead and one wounded when visitors had to take shelter at a popular tourist viewpoint while bullets flew nearby.
