Argentina Forces Telecom to Divest 6 Million Customers to Approve Telefónica Purchase
The Competition Defense Tribunal imposed strict conditions on the merger between Telecom and Telefónica Argentina. Telecom, controlled by the Clarín Group, must divest 50% of its mobile customer base, cede 130 MHz of radio spectrum, and guarantee infrastructure access for 2 years. The decision aims to prevent a 70% market concentration in the telecommunications sector.
