Trump Ends Ceasefire with Iran: The Truce is Over

Following a new escalation of bombings in the Strait of Hormuz, US President Donald Trump announced on July 8, 2026, the end of the ceasefire with Iran. Tensions resurged after Iranian attacks on commercial vessels and the subsequent US response, occurring right in the middle of the NATO summit in Ankara.
