WhatsApp, the messaging application owned by Meta (the parent company formerly known as Facebook), is taking the final steps toward one of the most requested updates by its user base of over 2 billion users worldwide: the ability to schedule messages to be sent automatically at a specific date and time.
The news was revealed by the specialized site WABetaInfo, which monitors the platform's developments. Although it is still in the development stage for iPhone and is not available even for beta users, details about its operation are already known.
The system will be simple and intuitive. Users will be able to:

One of the most notable features is that users will be able to schedule messages with a lead time ranging from 10 minutes to two weeks. This means you can prepare a message up to 14 days in advance of its scheduled sending.

If a scheduled message is deleted before it is sent, the recipient will not receive any notification about the cancelled content, maintaining the user's privacy.
The tool will not be limited exclusively to one-on-one chats. It can also be used in groups, significantly expanding its usefulness for work, family, or organizational coordination.
However, there is an important limitation: scheduled messages will only be received by people who are part of the group at the time the scheduled content was created. Users who join the group later will not have access to those previously sent messages.
The new tool promises to become an invaluable ally for multiple situations:
Birthdays, anniversaries, medical appointments, important meetings
Team communications, project coordination, task tracking
Messages to family or friends in other countries without calculating time differences
Birthday messages scheduled to arrive exactly at midnight
At the moment, Meta has not announced an official launch date. The feature continues in the development and testing phase in beta versions, mainly for iOS (Apple's mobile operating system).
It is expected that in the coming weeks it will begin to gradually reach beta testers, and subsequently extend to the general public on Android, iPhone, and WhatsApp Web devices.
It is important to note that this feature already exists in other messaging platforms like Telegram, so its arrival to WhatsApp represents an important step to match functionalities with its main market competitors.
Until now, those who needed to send scheduled messages had to resort to third-party applications, which involves granting access permissions to unofficial tools that can compromise the privacy and security of data. With this native WhatsApp function, users will be able to manage their scheduled communications without exposing their information to external applications.
The incorporation of scheduled messages is part of a series of new features WhatsApp is working on to improve the user experience and offer greater productivity options within the world's most widely used application for instant communication.
