The investigation into alleged illicit enrichment and money laundering by former Lomas de Zamora mayor Martín Insaurralde took a dramatic turn on Sunday, June 21, 2026. Federal judge Luis Armella ordered simultaneous raids at two key locations: a luxury apartment in Palermo—one of Buenos Aires' most exclusive neighborhoods—and a house in Banfield, a suburb where Elías Piccirillo, ex-husband of model Jesica Cirio, is under house arrest.
Argentina's National Gendarmerie seized in Palermo: cash in US dollars, narcotics, and firearms, all registered to Nicolás Trombino, Cirio's current partner. In Banfield, agents only found Piccirillo's mobile phone.
Jesica Cirio is a well-known Argentine model and television personality, famous for her work in entertainment shows and magazines. Martín Insaurralde is a prominent politician who served as mayor of Lomas de Zamora (a large district in Greater Buenos Aires) and was considered a rising star in Argentine politics. The couple's relationship became public knowledge, making headlines in celebrity and political news.
The case originated after viral videos in 2023 showed Cirio handling large amounts of US dollars at Fincas de San Vicente, an exclusive gated community where Insaurralde resided. The images sparked a media scandal that prompted authorities to investigate the origin of those funds.
Prosecutors accused Insaurralde of maintaining assets incompatible with his income as a public official: two lots in Fincas de San Vicente with an 841.76 m² mansion, a 73.40 m² swimming pool, a house in Lomas de Zamora, two luxury vehicles, a bank account holding $8,620,967 Argentine pesos between 2011 and 2021, and 75 international trips totaling USD 71,280.40.

Elías Piccirillo, Cirio's last husband, is under house arrest, accused of planting drugs and weapons on his former business partner Francisco Hauque in a fake police operation. He is also under investigation in Comodoro Py (Argentina's federal courts complex) as one of the financiers behind operations involving SIRA (Import Declarations) and access to the official dollar rate during currency controls.
Judge Armella ordered the seizure of phones, laptops, and memory cards, but according to judicial sources, no relevant evidence was found during the raids.
After the videos spread, Cirio issued a statement reporting an extortion attempt lasting over a year, with threats to publish intimate content. The model filed a complaint with Prosecutor's Office No. 58, case CCC 36588/2025 “CIRIO, Jessica s/extortion”.
Cirio claimed the videos show digital manipulations and are different sequences with cuts, questioning their authenticity. She separated from Insaurralde in November 2022 and finalized the divorce in July 2023.
