Mendoza Renovation: Hipólito Yrigoyen Street Transformation Begins

25/06/2026 12:42 - Actualidad

The Municipality of Mendoza City has confirmed the start of a transformative infrastructure project. Beginning Monday, June 29, comprehensive remodeling works will commence on Hipólito Yrigoyen street, a vital artery marking the boundary between the Capital Department and Godoy Cruz district.

A Strategic Upgrade for Mendoza

For our international readers, it is important to note that Hipólito Yrigoyen is not just any street; it acts as a key connector in the Greater Mendoza urban area. The project aims to significantly enhance safety and urban aesthetics. To minimize disruption to daily life and commerce, authorities have designed a seven-stage execution plan.

Phase 1 Details: First 5 Months

The initial phase focuses on two specific sectors covering approximately 235 linear meters:

Location Section
Brasil Street From Belgrano to San Martín
Hipólito Yrigoyen From San Martín to Roque Sáenz Peña

Key Impact: Expect total closures at the Yrigoyen/San Martín intersection and on Brasil Street between San Juan and San Martín.

Traffic Diversions & Alternate Routes

Planning ahead is essential. Authorities have established clear detours to manage the flow of vehicles in this bustling area.

For Private Vehicles
Heading South on San Martín:

Drivers must continue to Serú Street, turn west, and merge onto República del Líbano to proceed towards Godoy Cruz.

Entering the City from the South:

Two main options are enabled:

  • Turn left onto 25 de Mayo, continue via Almirante Brown and España heading north.
  • Turn right onto Castellani, left on Belgrano, and retake the northern route via San Juan.
Public Transport (Buses)

Bus lines (locally known as 'colectivos') will modify their routes:

  • Option 1: From San Martín and Morón, they will travel east via Morón to Rioja, then Brasil, Ricardo Videla, and Minuzzi, returning to San Martín.
  • Option 2: From the Peltier roundabout, they will head south via La Pampa to Capitán de Fragata Moyano, then east to República del Líbano.
