Journalist Orlando Morales, a well-known communicator from Cadena 3 (one of Argentina's most prestigious radio networks), experienced a serious car accident that could have been fatal but fortunately ended without injuries. The incident occurred around 20:30 on a road in La Rioja, a province in northwestern Argentina, while he was returning from Villa Unión to the provincial capital after covering a winter travel operation story.
Morales explained that the pickup truck was traveling on an alternate route after deciding against returning via Cuesta de Miranda, a dangerous mountain pass known for its challenging conditions. When exiting a curve in a completely dark area, a horse suddenly appeared on the road, causing a violent impact against the vehicle.
Morales confirmed that both he and the driver were completely unharmed:
"Thanks to God, it was a lucky misfortune. Neither the driver nor I have a scratch, nothing at all."
The journalist emphasized that if they had been traveling in a car instead of a pickup truck, the outcome would have been completely different: "If we had been in a car and experienced what happened to us, I wouldn't be talking to you now."
This incident highlights the importance of vehicle choice when traveling on provincial roads where loose animals are frequently encountered. Morales was traveling as a passenger, and the impact occurred precisely on his side: "The horse fell on my side," he stated.
Images shared by the journalist show the severe damage to the pickup truck after the collision, with the front completely destroyed, demonstrating the violence of the impact.
Morales lamented that the presence of loose animals on roads is a frequent situation in the region:
"There's a bit of a culture of loose animals on the road. Unfortunately, accidents like these happen from time to time."
This type of accident represents a constant risk for those traveling on rural roads in Argentina, especially in areas where livestock may cross unnoticed during nighttime hours.
After the crash, Morales highlighted the rapid response from people in the area:
Morales decided to publish photos and a video on social media to reassure his audience after receiving numerous concerned messages:
"I filmed myself on the day of the accident so people can see I'm fine, that nothing happened to me."
The journalist expressed gratitude for the support: "It moves me. We're public figures and the fact that people give you this kind of love really surprises us. They're always by our side."
Despite the strong impact, Morales confirmed he is in good health and will continue his journalistic work.
When traveling on roads with loose animals: reduce speed, maintain following distance, use high beams when possible, and exercise extreme caution in dark areas or curves. In Argentina, many rural roads lack proper lighting, making vigilance essential.
