Rockstar has confirmed that the physical version of GTA VI will include only a download code, with no optical disc inside the box. This decision has sparked intense debate among collectors and players who prefer to physically own their games. For international buyers, this means the physical edition offers no advantage over digital purchases in terms of resale or collecting value.
Pre-loading will be available starting November 12, 2026, one week before the official launch.
Players who pre-order GTA VI before November 20, 2026 will receive the Vintage Vice City Pack, which includes the Vapid Stanier 1955 vehicle as exclusive content. This classic American sedan is a nod to the nostalgic 1950s era of the fictional Vice City region.
Vice City, located in the state of Leonida (a fictional representation of Miami, Florida), will be the main setting of the game. This expansive and detailed map reimagines the vibrant culture, beaches, and nightlife of South Florida. For those unfamiliar with the franchise, Vice City was first introduced in GTA: Vice City (2002) and has become one of gaming's most iconic locations.
The protagonists are Jason and Lucia, a couple navigating the dangerous world of organized crime. Lucia marks the first playable female protagonist in the main GTA series, representing a significant milestone for the franchise.
Development investment exceeds USD 1 billion, making it the most expensive video game in history—surpassing even Hollywood blockbuster budgets. For context, GTA V (2013) generated over USD 8 billion in revenue and sold more than 200 million copies worldwide.
