The renowned agricultural machinery manufacturer seeks financial reorganization and engages in dialogue with local unions to navigate a complex economic landscape.
According to reports circulated on July 2, 2026, the well-known agricultural machinery manufacturer Metalfor has decided to open a Crisis Preventive Procedure (known locally as Procedimiento Preventivo de Crisis or PPC). This measure responds to the financial difficulties the company has been facing, which have materialized in delays in salary payments to its employees.
For foreign observers, it is important to note that Argentina is one of the world's leading agricultural exporters, making the local manufacturing of agricultural machinery a strategic sector. Metalfor's initiative aims to secure the necessary financial oxygen to reorganize its labor obligations and avoid more drastic measures that could compromise the company's continuity and the jobs of its dedicated workforce.
To understand the relevance of this decision, it is key to define the concept. In Argentina, the PPC is a legal tool provided by Law 24.013. It allows companies facing a situation of force majeure or severe economic difficulties to initiate a formal process of dialogue and negotiation with the relevant trade union and the Ministry of Labor.
The main objective of the PPC is to seek viable alternatives, such as payment rescheduling, temporary suspensions, or working-hour reductions, always prioritizing the preservation of jobs over mass layoffs or the complete closure of the business.
Currently, Metalfor's management is at the negotiating table with the Metalworkers Union (UOM)—one of the most influential labor organizations in Argentina. The goal of these talks is to reach an agreement that allows for the regularization of overdue payments and guarantees the stability of employees within the framework of this restructuring process. Despite the complexity of the current scenario, the implementation of this procedure represents a positive and proactive step. By choosing the path of dialogue and legality, Metalfor demonstrates its commitment to maintaining its role as a key player in the agricultural machinery manufacturing sector. It is expected that, through understanding with the UOM, the company will stabilize its situation and resume its path of growth and normal operations, ensuring a bright future for its workers and the industry.
