The legendary rock group and the former British footballer team up to inspire millions of children in vulnerable situations.
Details of a spectacular alliance were revealed on July 7 and 8, 2026: U2 and David Beckham presented 'Street of Dreams'. This production is not only the first advance of the Irish band's new studio album in nine years but also a cinematic charity short film.
The initiative supports the organization Street Child United to make the harsh reality of homeless childhood visible. The project has the corporate backing of the financial entity Bank of America and seeks to provide resources and accessibility to football to more than one million children in educational centers by the year 2030.
Directed by the duo Radha Ganti and Robert Lopuski, known as King She, the short film follows the experiences of a young homeless footballer, guided by the figure of Beckham, who acts as the representation of her inner voice. The full version has a duration of 4 minutes, but promotional pieces of 30 seconds will be broadcast on networks such as Fox and Telemundo during the retransmissions of the World Cup in North America starting on July 13, 2026.
The campaign coincides with the closing of the solidarity tour #IAmSomebodyTour, which includes activities at the Nu Stadium of Inter Miami (the Major League Soccer club co-owned by Beckham). The executive production was handled by the agencies Freuds and Somesuch, awarded at festivals like Cannes Lions.
In the musical field, 'Street of Dreams' marks the beginning of the path towards U2's next album, scheduled for the end of 2026. The song is produced by Jacknife Lee and recovers the band's most characteristic sound. A highlighted detail is that, in the chorus, Bono sings in Spanish repeating 'la calle de los sueños' (the street of dreams).
The band's last studio album with unreleased material had been 'Songs of Experience' in 2017, although on February 18, 2026 they published the independent EP 'Days of Ash', composed of six tracks. Soon, the band will celebrate its 50th anniversary, remembering its beginnings in 1976 when Larry Mullen Jr. placed an ad in Dublin looking for musicians.
The music video for the single was filmed in the vicinity of the Plaza de Santo Domingo, in Mexico City, coinciding with the band's presence at the final of the Street Child World Cup 2026 at the Lago de Texcoco Ecological Park. During the recording, a storm caused a generator to break down. A local family opened the doors of their home so that Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr. could continue filming from the balcony of their apartment, demonstrating the power of solidarity.
