Having a stable internet connection is essential to enjoy uninterrupted movies and series on streaming platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, or Disney+. The quality of the transmission depends largely on the technology used to connect the device to the router: Ethernet cable or WiFi. According to a report by Infobae, based on data from High Speed Internet, there is no single absolute answer, as both present advantages and disadvantages.
Ethernet requires a physical cable between the device and the router. While this limits mobility, it offers a noticeably more stable connection with lower latency.
Advantages:
Disadvantages: The cabling can be aesthetically uncomfortable and the device must remain fixed in one place.
WiFi stands out for its practicality, allowing you to move around the house without relying on cables and connecting multiple devices at the same time.
Advantages:
Disadvantages: It is more prone to suffering signal variations. Factors such as distance to the router, the number of walls, or neighboring networks can affect speed. Even on the 5 GHz band (which offers higher speed but less range), the signal can lose strength.
The final decision will depend on your priorities. If your goal is to watch movies in the highest possible quality on a fixed television or a gaming console, Ethernet is the unquestionable choice. On the contrary, if you value the convenience of using your cell phone or tablet in different rooms, WiFi is the ideal alternative. Both technologies are useful and, when used properly, will guarantee you hours of entertainment without frustrations!
