A Guide to Argentina's New Tax Rules: Monotributo and Income Tax

On July 21, 2026, the Agencia de Recaudación y Control Aduanero (ARCA)—Argentina's tax and customs collection agency—published the updated tables for two of the country's most important taxes: the Monotributo and the Impuesto a las Ganancias (Income Tax). The adjustments reflect a 16.85% inflation rate registered in the first half of the year by INDEC (the national statistics institute).

For foreigners and expats living or doing business in Argentina, understanding these updates is crucial. The Monotributo is a simplified tax regime for freelancers and small businesses, while the Income Tax applies to employees earning above a certain threshold. The online recategorization process for the Monotributo is now open, and taxpayers have until August 5, 2026 to complete it.

Monotributo: Billing Limits and Monthly Fees

The annual billing limits and monthly fees increased by 16.8%. The new fees will be payable starting in August. Taxpayers who don't need to change categories or have been in the regime for less than six months are exempt from the recategorization process.
