An Extended, Cinematic Look
Rockstar Games has confirmed that on August 27, 2026, it will present Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look. The big surprise is that streaming platform Netflix will have a temporary six-hour exclusivity to show this material, marking a milestone in video game promotion. According to reports from CNN en Español, the broadcast will begin at 15:00 (Miami time). Six hours later, the trailer will be available on Rockstar Games' official YouTube channel.
This is not the first time the studio has opted for an unconventional format. According to MeriStation, during the Red Dead Redemption campaign, Rockstar aired the first gameplay on the cable TV channel FOX, presenting it in a purely cinematic way, without a user interface (HUD), so that the general public could enjoy it like a movie. Netflix has already tagged GTA VI content as 'Action and Adventure/Crime Movies', suggesting a similar presentation.
Record Duration: Almost a TV Episode
While Rockstar has not yet officially confirmed the exact length, several industry insiders and Netflix's own support have indicated that the video will last approximately 20 minutes. To put that in context, the first gameplay of Red Dead Redemption 2 lasted only 6 minutes, and GTA V's was just under 5 minutes. This new look will allow players to see in real time how the game systems work, side activities, and the dynamic switch between protagonists Lucia and Jason in sunny Vice City.

Unprecedented Pre-Orders
The excitement around the game is already translating into numbers. Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar's parent company, announced it is seeing 'unprecedented' demand for GTA VI. Strauss Zelnick, the company's executive chairman, said in an earnings call: 'Our pre-orders are exceptional. The level of pre-orders is unprecedented and astonishing.' However, he remained cautious, clarifying that not a single final unit has been sold yet and that pre-orders can be cancelled.
The goal is to surpass the more than 230 million units sold by its predecessor, GTA V, since 2013. Zelnick is confident it will be 'the biggest entertainment launch in history'.
