A Global Real Estate Milestone
The renowned real estate network REMAX Holdings Inc. has been acquired by The Real Brokerage Inc., a US-based company specializing in technology and artificial intelligence-driven real estate brokerage. The transaction, valued at approximately $880 million USD, has created a new entity named Real REMAX Group, headquartered in Miami.
According to official sources, Real shareholders will own about 59% of the new company, while RE/MAX Holdings shareholders will retain 41%. Tamir Poleg, current CEO of The Real Brokerage, will lead the new group as President and CEO.
The integration modifies the global corporate structure, but not our way of developing in the country. We will continue to drive the highest standards of quality, ethics, and professionalism.
The Argentine Context: Stability and Growth
For the Argentine operation, the global change of control does not mean a shift in the business model. REMAX Argentina and Uruguay will continue to operate as an independent region, maintaining the same leadership and brand identity. This means the global corporate change does not alter existing relationships with brokers, offices, or agents in the local network.
The company arrived in Argentina in 2005, led by Dotti Peñate and Sebastián Sosa, who took on the 'master franchise' (exclusive rights to develop the brand in a specific territory) for the country, and later for Uruguay in 2012. Currently, the network has over 200 offices across Argentina, with a strong federal presence. During 2025, the company expanded to Neuquén, a province booming due to Vaca Muerta (one of the world's largest shale oil and gas reserves driving massive economic activity). They are also analyzing growth in other provinces driven by mining and agriculture.
REMAX closed 122,000 transactions in the country in 2025 and expects a similar figure for 2026. Since landing in Argentina over two decades ago, it has surpassed 1 million operations.
Massive Investments on the Horizon
REMAX Argentina and Uruguay is preparing a new stage of growth. The network projects investments of $15 million USD over the next two years, funded by its franchisees, destined for opening offices, technology, and new tools. Of the total, $6 million USD corresponds to 2026 and $9 million USD to 2027.
In Argentina and Uruguay, the company has been developing an ecosystem that combines its network of offices and agents with technology, information, training, and new financial solutions. These include Lendar (a collaborative mortgage loan platform), Garantor (focused on rental guarantees), and REMAX Collection (focused on premium real estate segments).
The Technological Impact
The main expected consequence is access to a broader technological ecosystem, integrating REMAX's international scale with Real's digital tools. According to Peñate, artificial intelligence will automate tasks, accelerate information search and analysis, and improve marketing, but it will not displace the human component.
We are facing a new stage in the global market, where technological advances are transforming tools and processes, but they will not replace trust. Therefore, the best strategy is one that allows us to dedicate more value to people, stated the CEO.
5 Changes That Will Transform the Market
- Technology: Digital tools that will complement and enhance professional work.
- Ecosystems: Networks capable of solving more needs around a real estate decision (financing, guarantees, tech) will win.
- Customer Experience: Increasingly relevant, with faster processes, more information, and self-management options.
- Professionalization: The real estate license will be just the starting point, with greater emphasis on continuous training and ethics.
- Diversity: Coexistence of different business models and intermediation forms.
Sector Deregulation
This transformation occurs as the Argentine national government pushes a reform to deregulate the real estate sector. Proposals include eliminating the mandatory real estate license, flexibilizing requirements, allowing agencies to operate across different jurisdictions, and freeing up commission fees.
Regarding this, Peñate stated: Honestly, we live in a quite regulated, over-regulated market. We have been working well despite everything. If it is deregulated, we will continue working as we do today. The important thing is that the final consumer's interest is preserved. Total chaos is not good for the market either.
Market Expectations and Prices
Regarding prices, Sebastián Sosa, President of REMAX Argentina and Uruguay, does not foresee significant short-term increases. He explained that there is still a large supply of properties available, and demand is not yet strong enough to push prices up.
The market is working well for Argentina's parameters. There is a lot of supply relative to demand. Prices will not go up until there are more financing options, Sosa noted. He believes greater availability of mortgage credit is necessary to boost demand. Access to financing has begun to recover, although it still has limited weight in the market.
The leadership of REMAX Argentina and Uruguay will meet this Sunday with Poleg in Asheville, Tennessee, in one of the first meetings with the team that will lead the company forward.
