The market reacted positively to the formalization of a Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran, whose official signing is scheduled for Friday, June 19, 2026 in Switzerland. The agreement includes:
WTI oil (West Texas Intermediate) plummeted 5.3% to USD 80.38 per barrel, its lowest level in months. Brent crude also recorded losses exceeding 4%, settling around USD 83 per barrel.
"Once peace is agreed, a WTI close below $84 per barrel would change the technical outlook to a tactically bearish stance for oil and the energy sector as a whole", explained Tom Essaye, analyst at The Sevens Report.
New York Stock Exchange's main indicators were advancing this Monday in a range of 1.1% to 2.4%, with technology stocks leading the way, driven by optimism about the end of hostilities in the Middle East.
Investors also remain focused on the upcoming Federal Reserve meeting on June 17, the first under the presidency of Kevin Warsh.
Country risk is an indicator that measures the probability that a state will not meet its financial obligations (default). It is expressed in basis points (each point equals 0.01%).
Interpretation: The lower the country risk, the greater investor confidence in the country's economy. A level of 425 basis points indicates that Argentine bonds pay an additional yield of 4.25% compared to US Treasury bonds, considered "risk-free."
YPF: Argentina's state-owned oil company, the largest energy company in the country. Founded in 1922, it was privatized in the 1990s and renationalized in 2012. Its shares trade on Wall Street as ADRs (American Depositary Receipts).
Mercado Libre: Latin America's leading e-commerce and fintech platform, founded in Argentina in 1999. Often called "the Amazon of Latin America," it's one of the region's most valuable tech companies.
Corporación América: The world's largest private airport operator, founded by Argentine businessman Eduardo Eurnekian. Operates over 50 airports across multiple continents.
Adecoagro: Major agricultural company producing sugar, ethanol, grains, and dairy in Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay.
