Live Nation Entertainment, the world's leading live entertainment company, has acquired majority ownership of Movistar Arena Buenos Aires, in a deal that reinforces its dominance in the Latin American market. The media group La Nación—owner of Argentina's oldest and most prestigious newspaper—will maintain a significant stake in the venue.
According to the company, the current management team will continue to oversee daily operations. The Movistar Arena will maintain its policy of operating as an open venue for various promoters and artistic proposals, with no immediate changes to its programming.
"Since we opened our doors, Movistar Arena Buenos Aires has become a benchmark for live entertainment in Argentina and throughout Latin America. Live Nation's investment reflects the strength of what the team has built over the last few years, and we will continue to improve the experience for artists, fans, partners, and promoters."
Live Nation Entertainment is the world's largest live entertainment company, operating globally with a portfolio that includes ticketing giant Ticketmaster, promotion company Live Nation, and hundreds of venues across the world. The company promotes concerts, manages artists, and operates iconic venues, making it a dominant force in the global music industry.
The acquisition of Movistar Arena Buenos Aires marks the second venue of this type under Live Nation's control in South America. In December 2025, the company had already taken control of the Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile, also with a capacity of 15,000 spectators.
The move is part of a broader expansion strategy in the region. In early June 2026, Live Nation announced its intention to acquire a majority stake in the Argentine production company Dale Play Live, linked to artists such as Duki—one of Argentina's biggest urban music stars—and Bizarrap, the globally renowned DJ and producer whose "Music Sessions" have broken streaming records worldwide.
Duki is a pioneer of Argentine trap and reggaeton, selling out stadiums across Latin America and Spain. Bizarrap became a global phenomenon with his Bzrp Music Sessions, collaborating with international artists like Shakira, Quevedo, and Residente, accumulating billions of streams on platforms like Spotify and YouTube.
Live Nation recently closed a 10-year agreement for concert exploitation and naming rights of the Más Monumental stadium of Club Atlético River Plate—one of Argentina's two most popular football clubs, alongside Boca Juniors. The contract is valued at approximately 110 million dollars.
River Plate is one of Argentina's most successful and popular football clubs, with more than 100 years of history. Their home stadium, El Monumental (officially named Más Monumental), is the largest in Argentina with a capacity exceeding 83,000 spectators, hosting major concerts by international superstars like Madonna, Rolling Stones, and Coldplay.
In Mexico, Live Nation increased its stake in OCESA to 75% in 2025, after a total investment exceeding 600 million dollars. This operation consolidated the company as one of the main live entertainment operators in North America's Spanish-speaking country.
Live Nation has had presence in Argentina for 8 years, since it acquired DF Entertainment, the production company responsible for events such as Lollapalooza Argentina—the local edition of the internationally renowned music festival that brings together artists from rock, pop, electronic, and urban genres every year in Buenos Aires.
Grupo La Nación is one of Argentina's most important media conglomerates, owner of the newspaper La Nación—founded in 1870 and considered one of the most influential publications in the country. The group has diversified into digital media, events, and entertainment, making them a strategic partner in the Argentine market.
The Buenos Aires venue has established itself as a regular stop on global concert circuits, hosting local and international artists since its inauguration in 2019. The ownership change positions Movistar Arena within a global network of venues and productions, with potential impact on bringing new international shows to Buenos Aires.
For Argentine and international concert-goers, this acquisition could mean better access to global tours, improved production quality, and potentially more international artists including Buenos Aires in their Latin American tours, as Live Nation promotes and manages hundreds of artists worldwide.
