Renowned Argentine singer Raúl Lavié (88 years old) was involved in a distressing incident on June 16, 2026 at the studios of TV Pública (Argentina's public television network), where he was scheduled to appear as a guest on La noche es nuestra (The Night Is Ours), hosted by actor and presenter Diego Ramos. The artist suffered two falls that caused concern among his colleagues and followers.
According to his wife, Laura Basualdo, the incident was caused by a combination of leather shoes with smooth soles and an irregular floor with plastic and aluminum plates in the studio facilities.
"He caught the tip of his shoe. He fell face-forward, hitting his face very hard against the floor," Laura described in an interview with the media outlet Teleshow. The impact caused wounds on his nose, lips, and knee, along with considerable bleeding.
After receiving assistance in the makeup area, Lavié insisted on continuing with his participation. However, when trying to re-enter the studio, he fell again, this time on his side. The musician accompanying him also fell in the same spot.
Laura Basualdo made a strong complaint about the lack of immediate assistance after the first fall: "I was with Mariela Tedeschi. I started screaming for help. Between Mariela and me, we couldn't lift him. A person appeared who, instead of helping us, started taking photos while Raúl was still on the floor with a bloodied face."
"I felt an enormous sense of helplessness," she added. Furthermore, she pointed out that there was no first-aid material at the TV station: "I asked for medical assistance, and the only thing they managed was to have SAME firefighters come, but they didn't have medical supplies either."
Context: SAME (Sistema de Atención Médica de Emergencia) is Buenos Aires' Emergency Medical Care System, similar to paramedic services in other countries.
Despite the scare, Lavié did not suffer serious injuries. According to his wife: "Now at home (he never wanted to go to the hospital). Nothing was broken. He's as strong as a lion."
The singer himself clarified in subsequent statements: "It wasn't serious, but I did hurt my upper and lower lip a bit. My nose also swelled up." Additionally, he confirmed that he never lost consciousness and is not taking painkillers.
"News of this type is always dramatic and gets exaggerated. What scares me is that my wife might go overboard. Because when something happens to me, nobody can stop her."
Raúl Lavié is a renowned Argentine singer and actor, 88 years old, with an extensive career in music, theater, and television. Known as "El Negro Lavié," he is considered one of the great voices of Argentine tango and popular music.
