Mendoza, Argentina's premier wine region located at the foothills of the Andes, has implemented a 200-meter bypass at the Don Bosco bridge on the East Access (Provincial Route 22). This strategic corridor connects the department of Maipú—one of Mendoza's most important agricultural districts—with the provincial capital, Ciudad de Mendoza (Greater Mendoza).
The measure was taken after detecting critical traffic bottlenecks that affected thousands of commuters since the start of major remodeling works. The original detour toward the South Collector Road created a severe congestion point at the intersection with Don Bosco lane.
Governor Alfredo Cornejo ratified an agreement to pave 26 kilometers of the North and South Collector Roads of the East Access through Decree 1149, published in the Official Bulletin.
The project will benefit the districts of Coquimbito, Rodeo del Medio, Fray Luis Beltrán, and San Roque—all historic wine-producing areas within Maipú department—improving their connectivity with downtown Mendoza and the metropolitan area.
