During the night of July 20, 2026, the Moscow region experienced a large-scale aerial attack. According to Russian authorities, Ukraine launched more than 400 drones toward the capital and its surroundings. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobianin reported that 85 of these devices were intercepted in the suburbs, although some managed to reach civilian infrastructure.
Regional Governor Andrei Vorobyov confirmed that 10 people were injured, including an 11-year-old girl and three Chinese citizens who required hospitalization. Damages were recorded in localities such as Domodedovo, Podolsk, and Odintsovo.
A fire broke out at the Iuzhnie Vrata industrial complex, considered one of Russia's largest logistics hubs with 600,000 square meters of warehouses. Furthermore, the major Russian e-commerce company Wildberries reported attacks on its distribution centers in Kotovsk and Elektrostal.
According to media reports, in the border city of Shebekino, a drone struck a passenger bus, resulting in 5 civilian casualties (four women and one minor) and 23 injured. Casualties were also reported in the Bryansk and Kursk regions.
In a hopeful operation for Kyiv, the 225th Independent Assault Regiment of Ukraine captured 64 Russian soldiers in the Zaporizhzhia region. The regiment stated that the soldiers were intercepted while attempting to infiltrate and will now repopulate Ukraine's prisoner exchange fund.
In parallel, Russia intensified its bombings on Ukraine, leaving one person dead and 13 injured in Kyiv, and 13 injured in Pavlohrad. This surge in violence occurs during a time of political instability in Ukraine. Thousands of people protested against the dismissal of Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov (35 years old) by President Volodymyr Zelensky. Despite the protests, General Oleksandr Syrskyi (60 years old) remains in command of the General Staff, driving the modernization of the army.
The conflict, which has now lasted over four years, keeps the international community expectant of a possible negotiated resolution as both sides seek to strengthen their positions. Total Russian casualties since the beginning of the conflict in 2022 are estimated at approximately 1,430,530, according to Ukrinform data.
