The company Anthropic announced on July 22, 2026, an innovation that promises to transform how we work with artificial intelligence. The new feature, called Record a Skill (also known as Tech Claude a Skill), removes the reliance on traditional text prompts and replaces them with a much more natural method: showing the AI how to do something while explaining it with your voice.
For years, one of the biggest challenges in using AI assistants was the need to write precise and detailed instructions. These descriptions, often complex, required the user to translate their muscle memory into text. With this update, that obstacle largely disappears, bringing automation closer to people without technical knowledge.
The mechanism is simple and intuitive. Within the desktop application of Claude Cowork, users can access the "+" menu and select the "Record a Skill" option. From that moment on:

This approach replicates the logic of observational learning or vicarious learning, a concept theorized in psychology by Albert Bandura, who explained that humans acquire complex behaviors by observing others. Decades later, Anthropic applies this principle to artificial intelligence.
