Renowned Argentine model and actress Floppy Tesouro publicly denounced a new type of scam circulating on social networks. A company used Artificial Intelligence (AI) to alter a photograph of her to promote a health product without her consent.
The case was exposed on June 19, 2026, in the column of journalist Juan Etchegoyen on Infobae en Vivo. The reporter warned the public: "Be careful with what you upload and pay attention to networks, because they may be making improper use of your image."
As Floppy Tesouro herself explained, a commercial brand took a real selfie that she had posted on her social networks. Using Artificial Intelligence, they digitally inserted a nebulizer into her hand.
The modified image was circulated as if the model genuinely endorsed the product, something that never happened. "A brand took a photo of mine from social networks and with Artificial Intelligence put a nebulizer in my hand," Floppy explained.
"I check which brands I work with, especially when it involves health. I know what to recommend, I check that it's endorsed by ANMAT (Argentine National Administration of Drugs, Foods and Medical Devices)."
"Very recently I was actually very complicated. Thank God I'm recovered now, but I had a very bad time."
"It's in very bad taste to use the image of a public person to sell a product without a contract."
"Being a public figure does not mean that they can use one's image for anything."
Salvador, Floppy Tesouro's partner and lawyer, contacted the brand involved directly.
The company's response was: "They offer a thousand apologies, saying they didn't realize the magnitude."
However, Floppy considered that private apologies are not enough because the damage was already done: her image circulated associated with a product she does not know, in a delicate health context.
Floppy emphasized that her claim goes beyond the personal level:
"Today it happened to me, tomorrow it can happen to any other colleague."
"This is my job and the reality is that I think it's important to make it visible so that this doesn't happen anymore."
"I think it's interesting that action is taken on these kinds of issues, because they shouldn't happen."
Artificial Intelligence allows manipulating images in an almost imperceptible way. In this case, it was used to insert an object (the nebulizer) into an existing photo, creating the illusion that the person was holding the product. This technology is accessible to anyone, which increases the risk of misuse of images.
