At 58 years old, renowned actor Josh Brolin revealed a moment of tension and doubt during the filming of Ridley Scott's next movie, The Dog Stars (originally reported in Spanish as La constelación del perro).
In an interview with Empire magazine, Brolin shared that his first impression on set was fear and confusion. The main cause was the unconventional working method of British director Ridley Scott, who chose to tell stories and skip rehearsals entirely.
His agent, who is also a close friend, advised him to take a day off. Although Brolin insisted it wasn't a 'one-day thing', his agent was ultimately right, and the actor decided to wait.
Despite having previously collaborated on American Gangster (2007), Brolin needed a few days to adapt to Scott's dynamic. The turning point occurred when the director invited him into his trailer to show him the scene they had just shot with co-star Jacob Elordi (known for his roles in Euphoria and Saltburn).
Seeing the dynamic and emotional result on screen, Brolin understood the filmmaker's vision and began to feed off that creative energy. Ultimately, the actor described the experience as one of the most creative and satisfying projects I have ever been involved in.
To understand the weight of this statement, it's worth remembering that Josh Brolin is one of Hollywood's most solid figures. Since his debut in The Goonies (1985), he has built a career full of hits, standing out for his villain roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (like Thanos) and collaborations with great directors such as Robert Rodriguez and the Coen Brothers.
