The province of Tucumán was the epicenter of the national festivities, drawing a massive crowd of over 60,000 people.
On July 9, 2026, Argentina celebrated a major milestone in its history: the 210th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. According to the Tucumán government, the vibrant Plaza Independencia was filled with families, youth, and tourists who gathered to enjoy a day full of music, tradition, and a profound sense of national unity.
For those unfamiliar with Argentine history, this anniversary commemorates the events of July 9, 1816. Back then, the Congress of Tucumán (a historic assembly of representatives) officially declared the independence of the United Provinces in South America, definitively breaking all political ties with the Spanish Crown. Tucumán, a northwestern province, is therefore considered the historical birthplace of the nation. Today, 210 years later, the spirit of that historic deed remains alive in every corner of the country.
The Governor of Tucumán, Osvaldo Jaldo, accompanied by his wife Ana María Grillo, was one of the main figures of the celebration, greeting the thousands of locals present. The VIP seating also included the Vice Governor Miguel Acevedo, along with Rossana Chahla and her husband Marcelo San Pedro, as well as provincial cabinet members, legislators, and mayors, demonstrating massive institutional support.
The artistic warm-up began just after 2:30 PM, welcoming local groups such as Filito (a beloved local comedian) and Las Ídolas del K-Pop, followed by Avelinos 3G, Coqui Sosa, and Cecilia Paliza.
The night closed with high-profile national presentations, including Sergio Galleguillo (a renowned folk musician), the iconic El Chaqueño Palavecino (a legendary figure in Argentine folk music), and the rock band La Beriso, who had the massive crowd singing along.
The artists did not hide their happiness at being part of such a monumental date. Filito expressed his great joy: It is an honor for me to make the people of Tucumán laugh. I know what families like, both adults and children, without using bad words. He also thanked the Government of Tucumán for trusting him for another year.
For their part, Las Ídolas del K-Pop highlighted that it was a wonderful afternoon, where they met many people and the audience was charming. The group Munay, dedicated to folklore music, also celebrated their participation, stating that they love bringing their music to these events for the past 10 years.
