According to Infobae, the night of Saturday, July 11, 2026, was marred by a senseless act of violence in Canada. A shooting recorded during a festival in the city of Toronto left at least two people dead and six injured.
The incident occurred around 8:10 PM at the intersection of St. Clair Ave. W. and Arlington Ave., right as the Salsa on St. Clair festival was being celebrated. This vibrant event, which celebrates Latin American culture and music, had prompted the closure of the street between Winona Dr. and Christie St. Toronto Police detailed that five people sustained gunshot wounds, two of whom were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford, expressed his dismay on social media, calling the event a senseless act of violence. Ford emphasized that the person responsible must be caught, brought to justice, and spend the rest of their life behind bars.
This unfortunate event adds to a series of recent violent incidents in the North American country:
Canadian authorities reaffirm their commitment to citizen safety and are working tirelessly to clarify the motives behind this attack and restore peace to the residents of Toronto, confident that justice will prevail.
