The incident occurred on Friday, July 11, 2026, at 8:07 AM, in the Aeroclub neighborhood of Campo Grande, a town in the Misiones province of Argentina. A 7-year-old girl left her house to buy cookies at her grandmother's kiosk, located one block away. According to her mother, Micaela G., the little girl decided to go alone because her siblings did not want to accompany her.
While the girl was walking down a practically deserted street, a 17-year-old teenager, reportedly a neighborhood resident, caught up with her, greeted her, and walked alongside her for a few steps. Private security camera footage shows how, suddenly, the young man grabbed her from behind, covered her mouth, and forcibly dragged her into a weeded area where they struggled.
The little girl managed to cry out for help despite the attacker covering her mouth and threatening her with a knife. The mother stated she heard a muffled scream and alerted her husband. The man quickly went out to look for his daughter and, upon hearing the screams again, ran towards the area. Noticing his presence, the attacker dropped the girl and fled at full speed.
“My husband went out to see and we heard another scream. He started running, but he couldn't catch the degenerate. Today I say thank goodness he didn't catch him, because otherwise, the one who would be in jail would be my husband.”
The girl fought the teenager the entire time, despite the physical difference and strength. “She saw the knife, and the guy told her that if she screamed he would stab her, but she still didn't stay quiet and screamed as loud as she could to ask for help,” the mother recalled in tears.
After the father filed a police report around noon and the footage went viral, the Women's Police Station of Campo Grande deployed an operation to locate the suspect. Hours later, the teenager was arrested.
The young man was officially notified of the charges in the presence of his mother and transferred to the Model Center for Assistance and Monitoring of Children and Adolescents (Cemoas) in Oberá, an institution staffed by the Provincial Penitentiary Service. As a preventive measure, the Correctional and Juvenile Court of Oberá labeled the case file as “highly outrageous simple sexual abuse aggravated by the use of a weapon.”
The emotional impact was reflected in the days following the attack. “She was left very badly affected. She doesn't want to leave the house and gets desperate if her dad is far away,” lamented the mother. She also recounted an episode that highlighted the fear the girl was left with: “(On Friday) night I went to church and she asked me to pray for her so the bad man wouldn't do anything to her.”
The mother also stated that the young man allegedly had a history of other crimes and demanded a strong judicial response: “Justice cannot just let him go simply because he is a minor. They have to do something, what he did is very serious and cannot go unpunished.”
