Fixed-term deposits: Which Argentine banks pay the best rates in July 2026

20/07/2026 22:59 - Economia

The Panorama of Fixed-Term Deposits in July 2026

In Argentina, a 'plazo fijo' (fixed-term deposit) is one of the most popular savings methods. The Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA) recently deregulated minimum rates for these deposits, creating a scenario where each bank freely defines its own yield. According to local media like Infobae and El Destape, investing 1,000,000 Argentine pesos (ARS) for a 30-day term could generate differences of more than 5,000 pesos depending on the chosen bank.

Analysts consulted by iProfesional note that June inflation was 1.9%, and 1.8% is projected for July. To avoid losing money against inflation, a fixed-term deposit should pay at least a Nominal Annual Rate (TNA) of 22%, which equals a monthly return of 1.8%.

The Highest Market Rates

Digital banks and financial companies lead the profitability ranking, surpassing the 22% TNA barrier. Here is what you could earn by depositing 1,000,000 ARS for 30 days:

Most of these entities would allow non-clients to open fixed-term deposits online.

Traditional Banks

Entities with the highest volume of deposits offer more conservative rates, oscillating between 16% and 19% TNA:

  • Banco Nación 19% TNA (1,015,616 ARS)
  • Banco Macro 18.75% TNA (1,015,425 ARS)
