On July 22, 2026, in the Salón de los Acuerdos at the Casa Rosada (the seat of the Argentine national government), a landmark agreement was signed: for the first time in history, the national government has transferred the comprehensive administration of a national route to a province. The Governor of Santa Fe, Maximiliano Pullaro, and the national Chief of Cabinet, Diego Santilli, signed the agreement that cedes the A012 National Route to Santa Fe's jurisdiction for 20 years.
The ceremony was attended by the Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei; National Deputy Gisela Scaglia; the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo; as well as Santa Fe's Ministers Lisandro Enrico (Public Works) and Pablo Olivares (Economy).
Construction work is scheduled to begin on Thursday, July 23 at 9:00 AM, at the intersection with National Route 34. The awarded company, Pose, has a deadline of six to seven months to execute the first stage, which will require an investment of 5 billion Argentine pesos.
The tasks will include deep and superficial pothole repair on the concrete, crack sealing, replacement of streetlights, painting, signage, and brush clearing. Simultaneously, two new roundabouts will be built at the intersections with Provincial Route 25 and the old National Route 9.
The A012 is a 67-kilometer ring road that acts as the second beltway for Greater Rosario (Argentina's third-largest city and a major port hub). It connects national routes 9, 11, 33, and 34, preventing thousands of trucks from crossing urban areas to access the port complex.
Over 2 million trucks travel through this corridor every year, coming from 13 different provinces. According to Minister Olivares, 80% of Argentina's grain, flour, and oil exports leave through the ports of Santa Fe.
This transfer comes after months of complaints from the province regarding the deterioration and paralysis of national public works. Governor Pullaro's administration already had the bidding process ready, which was awarded in February 2026, prepared to be executed as soon as the agreement was signed.
“Lowering logistical costs strengthens the productive system of the invincible province of Santa Fe and improves Argentina's competitiveness,” highlighted Governor Pullaro. The recovery of the A012 will reduce travel times, improve road safety, and optimize the agribusiness value chain, a decisive step for the country's economic development.
