Severe Storms and Hail in the Argentine Northeast (NEA)
The national agency has issued a yellow alert covering the provinces of Corrientes, Chaco, and Formosa. These regions, part of Argentina's subtropical northeast, are expected to experience storms of varying intensity, some locally severe, accompanied by heavy downpours in short periods, strong gusts, occasional hail, and intense electrical activity.
Forecast accumulated precipitation ranges between 40 and 80 millimeters, with the possibility of locally exceeding these values. The city of Posadas, Misiones—a key urban center on the Paraná River—will be among the hardest hit, facing 48 continuous hours of rain and showers from Monday, August 3 to Tuesday, August 4, with temperatures between 17°C and 24°C (63°F–75°F).
Persistent Snowfall in Patagonia
Meanwhile, a yellow alert for snow is in effect for northwestern Chubut and western Río Negro—areas in the Patagonian Andes. Snowfall of varying intensity is expected, with accumulations of 20 to 50 centimeters (8–20 inches), though these values could be exceeded locally. Officials do not rule out occasional rain mixing with snow, and whiteout conditions (viento blanco) are possible, reducing visibility drastically.

In the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA), which includes the capital city and its suburbs, temperatures will range from a high of 15°C (59°F) to a low of 11°C (52°F). Fog is expected around midday and at night, with mostly cloudy skies in the afternoon. Rain is forecast for the entire day on Thursday, August 6.
