A Market in Full Reinvention

The Argentine automotive sector is undergoing a profound transformation, adapting to new consumer habits and technological trends. According to the Asociación de Concesionarios de Automotores (ACARA) – the national dealers' association – and specialized media, July 2026 data confirms a shift toward imported vehicles and electromobility, with a positive outlook for the future.

July 2026 Numbers

The seventh month of the year closed with 43,758 units registered. While this represents a 30.3% decline compared to July 2025 – which was a record month – and a 7.7% drop from June, the cumulative total for 2026 stands at 339,359 vehicles. The daily average was 2,083 cars, reflecting a slowdown in credit availability, but opening the door to new financing strategies from automakers.

The Rise of Imports and Electrification

The market confirms a paradigm change: 69% of registrations correspond to imported vehicles, while only 31% are domestically produced. Moreover, electromobility already represents 15% of sales – a technological leap that is expected to keep growing as charging infrastructure expands across the country.

Top Brands and Models of the Month

Toyota consolidated its leadership with 7,102 units (17.3% market share), followed by Fiat with 5,244 and Volkswagen with 5,073. In the model ranking, the Toyota Hilux pickup truck topped the list with 2,812 registrations, but the biggest surprise was the Fiat Cronos, which jumped 6.3% to reach 2,122 units.

The BYD Phenomenon and Provincial Highlights

In the electric segment, Chinese brand BYD captured more than 73% of all 100% electric vehicle registrations, totaling 996 units – almost matching traditional brand Nissan (999). At the provincial level, Córdoba maintained third place nationally with 4,830 vehicles (11% of the market), behind Buenos Aires province (12,326) and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (8,310).

We are all adapting to this new reality of variety in models and prices, and to electromobility, which already reaches 15% of sales.
