During the early morning hours of a Thursday in June, the Investigation Police (PDI) of Santa Fe executed an impressive operation with 22 simultaneous raids across various locations in the San Lorenzo neighborhood of the provincial capital. The action was coordinated between the Provincial Ministry of Justice and Security, the Public Prosecutor's Office (MPA), and the Santa Fe Criminal Court.
The deployment involved more than 200 officers and approximately 50 police vehicles, including specialized brigades with drug-sniffing dogs and teams trained to locate firearms. This marks the second large-scale intervention in the neighborhood in recent weeks.

Prosecutor Laura Urquiza explained that the operations respond to an escalation of violence that became especially visible during the last thirty days. "What was attempted to address were different serious events of extreme violence that intensified during the last month," she stated.
The head of the PDI, Eva Cainelli, emphasized the participation of PDI personnel, tactical groups from different regional units, and the specialized K-9 Section trained in detecting weapons and narcotics.
This operation adds to a first series of procedures carried out days earlier in the same neighborhood, where three raids were executed for possession of narcotics with intent to sell. On that occasion, fractioned cocaine, money, phones, digital scales, and surveillance cameras were seized.
As a result of those procedures, three men aged 52, 44, and 34 and a 32-year-old woman were detained, all charged in the case.
All seized material remains under judicial custody and will undergo expert analysis to reconstruct possible links between the suspects and the investigated crimes. Investigators are now moving toward a stage of communication analysis, documentation, and relationships between those involved.
Argentina's provincial police forces operate independently from federal agencies. The PDI (Policía de Investigaciones) focuses on solving complex crimes, while the Ministerio Público de la Acusación (MPA) functions similarly to a District Attorney's office, prosecuting criminal cases. The provincial Ministry of Justice and Security oversees public safety policy and coordinates between different security forces.
