📍 Security Operation Details

The Government Secretary of Rosario, Sebastián Chale, anticipated the complete protocol for the central ceremony of Flag Day this Thursday, June 20, which will feature the presence of President Javier Milei at the National Flag Monument.

The protocol ceremony will begin at 10:00 AM with three key moments:

  • Raising of the national flag
  • Singing of the National Anthem
  • Oath of allegiance by military forces

The official schedule includes three speeches from the main authorities: Mayor Pablo Javkin, Governor Maximiliano Pullaro, and President Javier Milei.

🚌 Free Transportation

The municipality arranged for both public passenger transport and the public bicycle system to be free throughout the day to facilitate mass attendance.

🎵 Popular Festival

The grand finale will be the performance by Abel Pintos, scheduled for approximately 5:00 PM. Once the official ceremony concludes, the security perimeter will open for the popular festival.

⚠️ Key Request: Only Argentine Flags

The Government Secretary urged citizens to experience a civic and peaceful celebration, specially requesting:

"We call on everyone to attend with Argentine flags, without partisan identifications."

The official explained that street closures and fencing schemes will be similar to those implemented during visits from other Heads of State. Additionally, they confirmed awareness of a gathering at Pringles Square as a possible protest demonstration.

🏛️ Monument Reinaugurated After Historic Renovations

The celebration marks a milestone for the city: it will be the first June 20 in a long time with the Monument fully operational. Governor Pullaro inaugurated the restoration works on June 17, 2026, with an investment exceeding $4,000 million Argentine pesos.

The Province assumed a debt of $1,456 million with the contractor company plus $2,600 million in additional works. The renovations included the Hall of Flags, Eternal Flame, bronze pieces, glass, and frames.

In the coming days, guided tours, access to the crypt, and ascent to the lookout will be formally opened to the public.

📍 Historical Context

Flag Day commemorates the creation of the Argentine flag by General Manuel Belgrano on February 27, 1812. This June 20 also celebrates the 205th anniversary of Belgrano's death (who passed on June 17, 1820) and National Day of Latin American Freedom honoring General Martín Miguel de Güemes.

The National Flag Monument is one of Argentina's most iconic landmarks, located in Rosario—a major port city about 300 km northwest of Buenos Aires. The monument stands where Belgrano first raised the Argentine flag, making it a sacred site for national identity.
