Escena de reality show televisivo con participantes en tensa cena de nominados, dos personas celebrando con alegría mientras otras cinco permanecen preocupadas en un sofá, ambiente de estudio de televisión con iluminación cálida
Gran Hermano 2026 (Argentina's version of the worldwide famous Big Brother franchise) delivered one of its most explosive episodes during Week 17. For international viewers unfamiliar with the format: this is a reality show where contestants live together in a house under constant surveillance, and each week they nominate each other for elimination while the public votes to save or eliminate participants.
The show, broadcast on Telefe (one of Argentina's main television networks), has become a cultural phenomenon, with millions of viewers tuning in daily to watch the participants' lives unfold. The current edition, called "Generación Dorada" (Golden Generation), features well-known Argentine personalities and celebrities competing for the grand prize.
During the nominees' dinner on Thursday, June 18, 2026, participants had to publicly name who they wanted out of the house. This format creates inevitable tension, but nobody expected what happened next.
The first clash occurred when Titi Tcherkaski (real name Catalina Tcherkaski, a well-known Argentine media personality) requested the elimination of Solange Abraham. Titi brought up comments that Solange, who is Venezuelan, had previously made about her body. The argument escalated quickly.
Unlike typical weekly nominations done privately in the confessional room (called "La Galera" in Argentina), the nominees' dinner forces participants to face each other and publicly explain their votes. This format, unique to Argentine Gran Hermano, creates highly emotional and confrontational television moments.
However, the most intense moment came when Cinzia Francischiello (an Argentine model and influencer) accused Emanuel Di Gioia of displaying machista (sexist) behavior inside the house. Emanuel, visibly hurt, responded with an emotional declaration:
"It hurt me because she knows my story, I told it publicly and opened my heart to them. She called me machista, of all people. You're playing dirty, Cinzia, because you're using something people actually suffer from. My mother left our home because of machismo, and you're playing games with that."
The tension continued when Cinzia also accused Emanuel of inventing a "shippeo" (a term derived from "relationship," meaning a fake romantic connection created for media attention) with Mariela Prieto just to stay in the competition. Mariela, an Argentine television personality known for her long career, immediately defended herself:
"I've had a partner for 30 years and a family that cost me a lot to sustain."
For context, Mariela was referring to "El Turco" García, her longtime partner and father of her children, who is also a well-known Argentine media figure.
Gran Hermano Argentina is more than just entertainment—it's a national obsession. The show dominates social media conversations, spawns countless memes, and even influences political discourse. The host, Santiago del Moro, is one of Argentina's most recognized television personalities.
The term "placa" (plate) refers to the list of nominated participants at risk of elimination each week.
During the broadcast of Thursday, June 18, 2026, host Santiago del Moro announced which participants would leave the nomination plate through public voting:
The first to be saved. She exploded with joy and thanked the audience for the opportunity to continue in the competition. Tamara is a well-known Argentine model and television personality.
The second saved participant shouted emotionally "¡Vamos carajo!" (an Argentine expression of triumph). He hugged Mariela and looked at Cinzia and Solange: "This is for you!" Emanuel is from San Martín, a district in Greater Buenos Aires.
With Tamara and Emanuel saved, the final negative plate (meaning the public votes for who should leave rather than who should stay) is set for the elimination gala on Monday, June 22, 2026:
| Participant | Nickname | Background |
|---|---|---|
| Solange Abraham | - | Venezuelan participant, involved in conflicts with Titi and Emanuel |
| Catalina Tcherkaski | "Titi" | Requested Solange's elimination during dinner |
| Steffany Pereira | "Campanita" | Nicknamed after the Tinker Bell character; on the plate for the second consecutive week |
| Cinzia Francischiello | - | Accused Emanuel of machismo, confronted Mariela about fake relationship |
| Manuel Ibero | "Manu" | First time on the nomination plate |
The elimination gala will take place on Monday, June 22, 2026, broadcast on Telefe as part of Gran Hermano Generación Dorada. One of the five nominated participants will leave the house permanently. Argentine viewers can vote through the official Gran Hermano website and mobile app to decide who stays.
