On July 3, 2026, the Governor of the province of Córdoba, Martín Llaryora, announced the construction of a new grade-separated crossing (an underpass) on Avenida Perón. This project aims to organize urban traffic and connect it with the new Ring Road (Circunvalación) of Río Cuarto, a major agricultural and industrial hub in Argentina. The project requires an investment of $14.5 billion Argentine pesos (ARS).
The new underpass will provide continuity to Avenida Perón in the western sector of the city. It will significantly decongest traffic on Provincial Route 30 and optimize the flow of large trucks and vehicles transporting regional agricultural and industrial production.
The announcement took place during a meeting at a restobar in the western sector, where Governor Llaryora spoke with representatives from various institutions and opposition legislative blocs of Río Cuarto. The governor emphasized the importance of listening to different sectors before making decisions of this magnitude.
I consider the participation of economic forces, urban planners, and various political actors to be key.
Llaryora highlighted that these tasks are complementary to the construction of the Río Cuarto Ring Road, which he described as the most important civil work currently underway in Argentina.
This new ring road currently generates around 1,000 jobs and has more than 300 road equipment units deployed across six simultaneous work fronts. Recently, the governor enabled 115 streetlights in one of the completed sections, significantly improving road safety conditions for drivers.
