Franco Colapinto's Impressive Climb at Silverstone

Argentine driver Franco Colapinto delivered a standout performance in the Sprint race of the Formula 1 British Grand Prix, held on July 4, 2026, at the legendary Silverstone Circuit. Piloting the Alpine A526, Colapinto started in 14th place and impressively climbed to 9th in the early laps, eventually crossing the finish line in 12th position.

This result marks a significant step forward compared to his previous race in Austria, where he finished 15th. Following that outing, the Alpine team focused heavily on improving their energy management (clipping), a crucial F1 technique to optimize the car's electrical power deployment. The enhanced management allowed Colapinto to display a much more competitive pace on British soil.

Sprint Results & Alpine's Current Landscape

His teammate, French driver Pierre Gasly, started 11th and finished in that same position (11th). At the front of the pack, young Italian star Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) secured the Sprint victory, while British legend Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) had claimed the Sprint pole position.

In the Constructors' Championship, the weekend was somewhat challenging for Alpine, as Racing Bulls closed the gap in the standings (Racing Bulls with 57 points vs. Alpine's 45 points).
