Goals from Cristian Romero, Lionel Messi, and Enzo Fernández sealed the victory, despite Messi missing a penalty kick. While the immense majority of fans celebrated peacefully, a small group generated isolated disturbances that were quickly controlled by security forces.
According to local media reports, thousands of fans gathered at the Plaza de la República until 8:30 PM, when isolated disturbances began to register. The City Police deployed over 400 officers to clear individuals exhibiting violent behavior and public intoxication.
Traffic was cut off on Lavalle, Cerrito, and Corrientes streets, while municipal workers quickly cleaned up broken glass to restore normalcy.
In the capital city of the province of Córdoba, incidents were recorded at the corner of San Juan Boulevard and Vélez Sársfield, right in front of the Patio Olmos shopping mall. The provincial Security Minister, Juan Pablo Quinteros, was present during the police operation.
Controlled scuffles were also reported in Río Cuarto (11 detainees), Villa Allende, and Villa Carlos Paz.
Despite these isolated episodes, the general atmosphere remains optimistic and celebratory. The Argentine national team will face Switzerland next Saturday, July 11 in the quarterfinals. Authorities in Córdoba and Buenos Aires are already planning preventive mega-operations to ensure that the joy of the Argentine people is experienced responsibly and without violence.
