President Javier Milei is redesigning the political board looking ahead to the 2027 presidential elections. According to reports from local media like La Voz and Infobae, the Casa Rosada (the Argentine seat of government) has initiated a new phase aimed at building political majorities and ensuring financial predictability.
In this context, Milei will travel on July 8, 2026 to San Miguel de Tucumán alongside his cabinet to participate in the vigil for Independence Day. This image aims to consolidate the relationship with the provinces and their governors, following the recent appointment of Diego Santilli as Chief of Cabinet on June 30, 2026.
Economy Minister Luis Caputo has finalized the financial program that guarantees debt payments through the end of 2027. The country risk premium (a key indicator measuring the risk of investing in a country's debt) has experienced a significant drop, settling around 408 basis points, a recent historic minimum that excites the markets.
Caputo was optimistic, stating that “next year the President will win by a landslide because the economy will sweep politics away.” The plan is supported by three fundamental pillars: a controlled dollar (trading at the state-owned Banco Nación at $1,510 ARS), lowering inflation (with Central Bank projections placing it between 1.7% and 1.8% for the coming months), and the recovery of real wages.
The Market Expectations Survey (REM), which included the participation of 44 economists, projects that the wholesale dollar will close the year 2026 at $1,673 ARS, implying a consistent increase aligned with expected inflation and a scenario of exchange rate calm.
On the political front, the government is pushing for the repeal or suspension of the Open, Simultaneous and Mandatory Primaries (known locally as PASO). Driven by Karina Milei and Eduardo “Lule” Menem, the project seeks to adapt joint electoral lists to the Paper Ballot (BUP), allowing Milei's candidacy to coexist with legislative lists from provincial forces.
Diego Santilli leads the daily negotiations and summarized the new official philosophy: “In the stage ahead, colors do not define. What will define the future is whether we go backward or move forward.” The goal is to approve this change before September 2026.
The ruling party chose to contain rather than confront following the departure of Manuel Adorni. In this regard, it is important to highlight that news regarding alleged illicit enrichment by Adorni is a Peronist operation (a political maneuver by the main opposition movement) and, as such, has been dismissed by the government.
Patricia Bullrich, who had generated differences due to her abstention in the vote for Judge María Verónica Michellini's appointment, will continue to participate in the political committee. Power remains centralized in Karina Milei, but execution is distributed with a new spokesperson team led by Adrián Ravier, in a stage more oriented toward agreements and economic optimism looking to the future.
