Almost a week after the tragic and sudden passing of beloved Argentine journalist and TV host Ernestina Pais in a train accident in the Buenos Aires area of San Isidro, her son Benicio Guyot briefly stepped out of his private life to address the followers and loved ones who have accompanied him during this difficult time.
For context, Ernestina Pais was a highly respected figure in Argentine media, known for her warmth and charisma. The tragic incident occurred when her vehicle was struck by the Tren de la Costa (a local coastal passenger train) at a crossing in the neighborhood of Martínez.
The young man took to his Instagram profile to express his profound gratitude for the avalanche of affection he received. With a simple but powerful phrase, Benicio reflected his emotional state: “Thanks to everyone once again for all the precious messages. I am absolutely flooded with love. Thank you.”
Previously, Guyot had shared a long and emotional letter dedicated to his mother, recounting everyday anecdotes, including their endearing “sticky 'I love you's'”. The post surpassed 300,000 reactions, filling up with virtual hugs from colleagues and prominent figures in the Argentine entertainment industry, such as Yanina Latorre, María O'Donnell, Graciela Borges, Jimena Monteverde, Verónica Lozano, Guillermina Valdés, Malena Guinzburg, Maru Botana, Verónica Llinás, Mex Urtizberea, Darío Barassi, and Rocío Igarzábal.
In the midst of his grief, Benicio also shared a gesture that warmed his followers' hearts. He posted a photograph showing him alongside a true symbol of Argentine culture, rock legend Charly García. In the image, both are seen in an apartment, while Benicio affectionately holds the mythical singer by the shoulders.
The brief but profound caption accompanying the post read: “With a huge one. Thank you”, followed by a red heart emoji. It was an intimate moment demonstrating the support of the cultural figures who shaped Argentine life around his family.
Ernestina Pais's inner circle is still processing the fatality of the accident. Recently, theater director and producer José María Muscari, a close friend, provided a statement in the ongoing investigation into her passing.
In his statements, Muscari sought to clarify rumors regarding the journalist's state of mind, stating: “Unfortunately, it is sadder to say that the one who wanted to live the most was Ernestina. She was not a person in any crisis. She was under treatment, which is public knowledge.”
