Winter Break 2026: An Unmissable Cultural Agenda for Families in Córdoba

09/07/2026 07:45 - Actualidad

Winter break in Argentina—known as vacaciones de invierno—is a highly anticipated two-week school recess that typically takes place in July. During this time, the province of Córdoba, Argentina's second-most populous region located in the heart of the country, transforms into a vibrant stage offering free and accessible cultural activities for families, children, and visitors. The Córdoba Culture Agency (Agencia Córdoba Cultura) has organized an extensive program throughout the entire month of July 2026.

16th Children's Book Fair and Theatrical Productions

The Centro Cultural Córdoba will be the epicenter of the 16th Children's Book Fair (16ª Feria Infantil del Libro), featuring shows, storytelling, music, and workshops. This will be complemented by major productions at the historic Teatro Real, such as Épico Legendario by the duo Mago Matus and Willy Magia, a show blending illusionism and humor for the whole family.

At the prestigious Teatro del Libertador San Martín, audiences will enjoy Circomanía, a fusion of the Symphonic Band, the Youth Comedy troupe, and the Mixed Youth Choir. Additionally, on July 8 and 9, this theater will host Cerati en el arrabal. This is a concert by the Provincial Orchestra of City Music (Orquesta Provincial de Música Ciudadana) that reinterprets the work of Gustavo Cerati—one of the most iconic figures in Argentine rock history and the legendary frontman of Soda Stereo—in a tango key.

Immersive Art and Museum Activities

The Provincial Museum of Natural Sciences (Museo Provincial de Ciencias Naturales) will present the immersive mural Inmersión a la Megafauna. This intervention by artist Franco “Vato” Cervato combines art, science, and technology to recreate the landscape of South American megafauna. Admission is free and on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Marqués de Sobre Monte Museum (Museo Marqués de Sobre Monte), one of the oldest buildings in the city, will invite visitors to travel back in time with the puppet show La visita del Marqués, set in colonial-era Córdoba. Meanwhile, at the Museum of Women (Museo de las Mujeres), young people can participate in a sculpture workshop as part of the Pedestrian Courtyard Cycle (Ciclo Patio Peatonal).

Traveling Theater: Culture that tours the province

To guarantee access to culture across the entire territory, the Traveling Theater (Teatro Itinerante) will bring free shows to towns in the interior of the province and the capital city. The proposal includes theater plays, circus acts, clowns, puppetry, and oral storytelling.
